In Israel cheap hotels can be very handy, especially when the budget is tight. As such I thought I might add some info and tips about
discount hotels and hostels in Israel.
If you are looking for a true budget stay in the country you will probably want to stay at one of the many youth hostels in Israel. You can either have your own room on a bed and breakfast basis or share a room with a few other people (even cheaper option).
The rooms in the Israeli hostels are nice and clean usually but nothing fancy. And yes, it is quite safe to stay at a hostel. The main advantage of the cheap hotels in Israel or youth hostels is that the damage to your wallet is minimal and thus you can prolong your stay in the country and/or spend your money on something else besides just a room.
Another advantage of staying in a hostel in Israel is the ability to meet people from all over the world. Since those discount hotels are usually small, you get to know most other guests during your stay. People visit Israel from many different countries and there is almost no better place for diversity than at a hostel.
You can find discount Israeli hotels all over the place: Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Galilee, etc.
Here is a good website if you want to browse through most of the discount options in Israeli hotels:
There is also a new trend in the Israel housing market to rent out apartments on a short temporary basis to tourists. This is another option but usually not as cheap as discount hotels in Israel or hostels. For example, as you'll see on my Tel Aviv hotels page, you can rent one of the Ben Yehuda apartments if you visit that city for a while.
I'm sure you'll be able to find some nice Israel cheap hotels (or hostels) and have a great (and affordable) time touring the country!
